Summer is a time to refresh your look and experiment with things you may not have considered before. Nothing can change your look as much as a fresh cut and color, as it’s time to re-shape the overgrown locks and move bravely on into the new season. In 2021, we celebrate hair trends that look great on all genders and can be worn by anyone.

  • Demi Mullets: This is NOT for the faint of heart, but Miley Cyrus and Troye Sivan have made a case for this 70s/80s throwback haircut. It is edgy and high maintenance and screams confidence. Think Labyrinth- era David Bowie, but updated for 2021.
  • Short ‘fro: A great option for people who want to keep their hair natural. This is the simpler, tamer cousin of the full-on disco era afro and thus much easier to maintain. It looks free-spirited but refined at the same time. Miuccia Prada and Alessandro Michele at Gucci embraced this style for their menswear collections, and their models were seen sporting loose, short ‘fros on the runway.
  • Middle Parted Bob: You can call it the E-boy style or soft bob. Very reminiscent of the 2000s curtains, but not with poker-straight hair. Most people would recognize it because of Timothée Chalamet.
  • Buzzcut: THE most freeing cut of them all. Have you made some terrible dye decisions during the pandemic? Chop it off. Are you tired of maintaining long locks? Chop it off! Hair making your neck too hot? You heard us chop.it.off, a male-style staple and gorgeous on women.
  • Blonde highlights: No, we do not mean the sorts in vogue in the early 2000s. The modern ones blend well and transition into your natural hair color, and gives your hair movement and dimension. Or- forget the highlights and opt for blonde global hair color.
  • Strawberry blonde: Reds are back in style, thanks to the popularity of The Queen’s Gambit. Especially on-trend is the soft, red-blonde hair complimented by loose waves or a simple shag cut. Gigi Hadid’s already rocking her red hair.
  • Natural Brunettes: Finally, natural and untreated hair has its moment to shine. After experimenting with rainbow dyes, this is the season to let your hair be. All hues of brown- light blonde-brown to nearly black- are celebrated this season.
  • Soft bangs: Curtain bangs, the Farrah Fawcett do, short fringes -are all trending in their softest form. Everyone from Rihanna to Lizzo seems to have some form of bangs now. Just let them be wavy and textured and light.

Strict, sharp hairlines begone! This is the year of loose waves, soft fringes, and messy bobs. Pick the style that suits your face (there are several virtual hairstyle generators that you can use to pick what looks good on you before you step into a salon), and have fun!
