Leeds United might be closing the biggest deal for their club as they are all set to sign Manchester United winger Daniel James for 30 million. Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa has had an eye on James ever since the winger’s move to Swansea collapsed in January 2019.
After those negotiations fell through, James joined United that summer and managed to score nine goals in 74 appearances. Leeds thought to make the move on James last summer but were unable to do that as they settled for Brazil’s Raphinha instead.
Even though James was performing well for Manchester United, his future became uncertain when it became apparent that Cristiano Ronaldo will be joining United this season. This new development allowed Bielsa to go for the 23-year-old and get Leeds a world-class winger. The fee for James has been discussed, and only the final details remain to be completed. If the deal goes through, it will be the biggest deal for the club.
Leeds needs to start working on their game because the next few games will not be easy. First, they will be facing Liverpool on 12th September, and they will need to work hard and understand their tactics if they want to win or even tie the match. After that, they will have a bit of breathing space, but not too much, as they will be facing Newcastle, Fulham, and West Ham in the coming matches.
Leeds currently lies in the 15th position on the league table, having played three games drawing two of them and losing one. This is not a great start for the side, but it is still early in the season, and if they play their cards right, they can get a few wins in the coming matches.
The Premier League has had a pretty busy transfer window this year, having spent over 1.1 billion pounds. Keep in mind that the window was only opened on 9th June and ended on 31st August. The spending was a little less as compared to last year when the Premier League clocked at 1.3 billion pounds. The biggest deal in the Premier League this season was the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United from Juventus.
There were also talks that Kylian Mbappe might move to Real Madrid from PSG. However, the club rejected two offers for the world cup winner. This year, it is said that Premier Club signed around 148 players as compared to last year, where they signed only 132 players.
The new season of the league just kicked off a few days ago, and we will surely be seeing some exciting matches in the future. We have already seen Messi in action at PSG, but we will have to see what Cristiano Ronaldo does at United. Messi and Ronaldo are still at the top of their game, and we will surely see more great performances from them.
