Elon Musk made headlines recently when it was revealed that he would appear on Saturday Night Live (SNL). The tech entrepreneur already has a lot of followers all over the world, and his plans for the future are quite ambitious. However, this appearance on SNL was quite different as Musk took this opportunity to tell the world that he has Asperger’s syndrome.
- Musk said that he was “the first person with Asperger’s” to host SNL; he later added that he was at least the first known person with Asperger’s to host the show. Upon hearing this, the audience cheered in support.
- People who have Asperger’s are unable to interpret the environment like regular people. It is the first time that Elon Musk has openly spoken about his condition.
- Many celebrities like Will Farrell, Ringo Starr, Chris Rock, and Adele have hosted SNL, and the show has had many guests over the years; keep in mind that it has been going on since the 1970s.
- Musk was quite candid about his condition and even joked that it makes for great comedy since he speaks without variation and intonation. This comment was well received by the audience.
- However, some people on social media contested Musk’s claims as they said that comedian Dan Aykroyd who has hosted SNL in the past, also suffers from Asperger’s syndrome and Tourette’s.
- Elon Musk also came into the news again when his company SpaceX announced that they would be accepting the meme-inspired Dogecoin as payment for future missions. Dogecoin has quickly become a popular cryptocurrency, and Musk even called it the people’s crypto. Even though crypto is rising in value, the problem is that it does not have any intrinsic value like gold. Therefore, they are very volatile and fall just as fast as they rise in value.
- Asperger’s syndrome is a condition that affects people; differently, it is a lifelong condition, and people with Asperger’s are considered to be on the autistic spectrum. People with Asperger’s are unable to understand verbal and non-verbal cues and might even need more time to process them.
- Another problem with Asperger’s is that it prevents the person from expressing their feelings properly. However, people on the spectrum appear to be more empathetic than non-autistic people. There is also evidence that people with Asperger’s have highly-focused interests, which allows them to move towards successful careers, and Musk is a prime example of that.
- There are various levels of Asperger’s; people who are higher on the spectrum can have a difficult life. Therefore, the revelation by Musk has been welcomed by people all over the world. This announcement will also be used as motivation by others on the spectrum.
- Elon Musk’s success tells us that if you are adamant and have the will to accomplish your tasks, no condition can come your way. This is a very important message, and we are grateful to Elon for that.
