Cats are quite different from dogs, and that is why you will need to do a lot of things differently. Luckily, almost all of these items are readily available. Collar – Cats have a tendency to go around the neighborhood and there have been multiple instances when a cat forgets its way back home. This is why you need to put a collar on your cat at all times; these new collars come equipped with a chip that allows the owner to know where their cat is at all times, and it can really make your life easier.
Food and Water Bowls – It is best to have separate bowls for food and water for the cats. It is a known fact that cats usually prefer running water to drink because they think it is cleaner and safer. So, it is a good idea to invest in a water fountain type bowl. You don’t need to go overboard with the bowls, just make sure that they are food safe and don’t break easily. The bowls should also have some sort of gripping mechanism at the bottom so that it does not slide.
Toys – Cat toys are a whole different world and it is not a case of “one size fits all.” All cats have different preferences when it comes to toys, but one thing that is certain is that you need to get your cat a toy. This is because cats need to be kept active throughout the day as it is better for their physical fitness. Aside from that, getting your cat hooked on a certain toy will help you protect your furniture from scratches.
Litter Box – A littler box is perhaps one of the most important items that you need to have because your cat is going to need a place to do its business. The number of litter boxes you need will depend solely on the size of your home and how many cats you have. It is ideal to have at least two litter boxes for a cat so that it does not pee or poo on the carpet if it is far away from the litter box.
Cat Carrier – One item that you must buy is a cat carrier because unlike dogs, cats don’t just get into a car with you. You need to have a dedicated carrying solution to help transport them from place to place. Although there are many types of cat carriers that you can buy right now, it is recommended that you buy a top-loading one. With this design, it is easier to put your cat inside the carrier and take it out when you need it.
